A tour of my native garden through the growing season. This garden is sustainable with no irrigation using native and near native plants.
My garden is pesticide-free, fertilizer-free and herbicide-free. It hosts families of nesting birds and owls; and seasonal vistors like hummingbirds and Monarch butterflies. I leave the leaves in fall by raking them into the beds. I provide a natural water source and a bird bath. I capture water run off from my driveway, and along the street to filter into rain gardens.
I’m constantly curating and evolving my garden design as certain species mature snd take shape. The large silver maple that takes priority over the garages structure anchors the eastern part of the property and brings a variety of woodpeckers and sapsuckers. Resident carolina wrens, doves, cardinals, and blue jays always visit. Finches come in fall for the Sunchoke seeds.
